چکیده

Congenital variations and anomalies of the aortic arch are important entity in vascular imaging. Most them asymptomatic. About 30-40% presents with tracheo-oesophageal symptoms like dyspnea dysphagia. A 27 year-old female presented persistent dysphagia for 6 months duration cause was right sided aberrant left subcalvian artery from Kommerell’s diverticulum. The diagnosis made through combination chest X-Ray, echocardiography, non-ionic contrast swallow Computed Tomography angiography. Non-invasive modalities (CT MR Angiography) play an role pre-operative surgical planning providing relationship surrounding structures especially trachea esophagus.

Dysphagia due to an aberrant left subclavian artery in a right-sided aortic arch.

In 1794, Bayford described the post-mortem findings of a woman with lifelong dysphagia who eventually died of starvation, caused by oesophageal obstruction.' At post-mortem a right subclavian artery was identified passing aberrantly from a left-sided aortic arch behind the oesophagus, causing the woman's dysphagia. Dr Bayford referred to this extraordinary disposition ofthe right subclavian art...

Right-sided Aortic Arch with Aberrant Left Subclavian Artery from Kommerell’s Diverticulum

A previously healthy 52-year-old man had a chest radiograph for medical check-up and found to have a right-sided aortic arch. Computed tomography of the thorax revealed a right-sided aortic arch with aberrant left subclavian artery originated from Kommerell's diverticulum. Barium swallow examination showed compression of the posterior wall of the esophagus. He was asymptomatic and no surgical i...

A right-sided aortic arch with Kommerell's diverticulum of the aberrant left subclavian artery presenting with syncope.

A right-sided aortic arch with an aneurysm of the aberrant subclavian artery is a rare disease. We report a case of Kommerell's diverticulum of an aberrant left subclavian artery in a patient with a right-sided aortic arch. Fewer than 50 cases have been reported in the literature. A number of operative strategies are described. Right thoracotomy provides good exposure and avoids the morbidity a...
